HP scanning broken under Leopard

They've been rolling out version 9.7 for all-in-ones, officejets, etc.,
slowly, printer by printer, for several months. Just put an alias on your
desktop to your printer's HP driver page, and check it every couple of days
(when it shows up, it will claim to have been available for a couple of
months). My home printer finally got the 9.7 treatment a few days ago,
claiming to have been released in October. My wife's office printer hasn't
been hit yet.
With HP, you need to practice patience. I bought one HP printer at Staples a
few years ago. It said on the box, "works with Mac OS X." A working Mac OS X
driver became available for it more than a year later. But I still buy HP
printers, because the hardware is great (if a little brittle, as all the
plastic printers are), and I've always been able to find a way (via CUPS or
otherwise) to get them to work.
