I don't believe he was arguing that *every* student would want one.   
Merely that it would appear to students.  If you have to spend all day  
carrying a computer around, and most of what you do involves typing  
documents, this is an appealing machine.  The physics majors probably  
don't want it.  The english majors might.  Especially since, as far as  
I could tell in school, a big part of english lit was knowing how to  
look cool in the coffee shop while you sat writing.  :-)
