I have no doubt that there will ne SSD options ( and its easy to swap)

As for your other concern, I've started using an 8 gb USB flash drive  
as emergency boot drive. Just install, clone to the USB drive and  
you've got a boot drive.

FireWire target mode is useful to me but the USB flash drives bring a  
new sense of utility.
