Yahoo mail is run by a bunch of idiots. They were perpetually
deferring all email from my mail system (I run a small hosting
business outside of this account including lots of mail users) no
matter to whom at yahoo and no matter from whom at this end. The
deferral message gave a link to some explanatory page at Yahoo that
was a dead link so I had no idea what was going on. Trying to get
help there made me wait 2 weeks for any reply and then I got some form
letter from someone in India or elsewhere who does not speak English
as a native language that was totally useless and did not at all refer
to the problem I was having and further replies to my reply took a
week or two and basically they were "sorry, we cannot help you." In
the meantime, the problem had gone away. If it happens again I will
just bounce all mail from Yahoo back to yahoo with the message for
them to complain to Yahoo about Yahoos overbearing and ridiculous
practices and inability to work with other providers to solve problems.
And we have never had spam sent to Yahoo from our servers unless a
customer has a forwarding account and that account gets spam. We mark
it as such but our policy is "first do no harm" so we do not, in most
cases, reject stuff that we think is spam beyong a grey list and stuff
that spamassassin rates at like a 30 or some other never-been-a-
mistake level.
STAY AWAY FROM YAHOO FOR EMAIL. THEY ARE INCOMPETENT.
