Apple Mail and/or Exchange Server email problem

Hi,
At work I use Apple Mail on a Mac Pro running Tiger (10.4.11). My
account had been an IMAP account, but about 2 weeks ago I switched it
to an Exchange account, since virtually everyone at work uses
Exchange and I believe they wanted the rest of us to switch. Today I
noticed a problem, but I do not know whether it is related to Apple
Mail, Exchange, or both (or neither).
I always CC myself on emails that I send. Yesterday I sent an email
to a colleague just before I left work. This morning I looked for
that message in my Inbox (in Apple Mail) and it was not there. I
looked to see if I had already filed it on my mac, in the mailbox for
that colleague, but it was not there either. Then I looked in the
Inbox on our Exchange server and I could not see it there. Finally,
I looked in the Sent mailbox in Apple Mail and there it was. Sure
enough, I had CC'd myself like usual. Does anyone have any idea why
I did not get a copy? Even if I did get a copy on my mac and either
accidentally deleted it (unlikely) or accidentally misfiled it (less
unlikely, but I looked in neighboring mailboxes), why was it not on
the Exchange server?
I have no idea how many other emails I might be missing (maybe none,
but who knows). If this is an isolated incident, then it's no big
deal, but if this will be (or has been) an ongoing problem, then it
is a big deal. Does this description of the problem ring any bells
with anyone? I'm open to suggestions, such as going back to an IMAP
account. Thanks,
Gregg
