Assuming this is Tiger?
On Leopard I get 1 result for 4 fevrier, 58 for 4 and 1 for "4 fevrier"
my guess is that tiger does "or" searches and "search terms" creates
and "and" search, but not a string search.
in leopard mail.app does "and" searches, with "search terms" creating
a string search
/me goes off to seek confirmation
