Mail searches etc.

No, I don't think so... without the quotes, I get 800 messages, with  
them I get 600, but most of the 600 do not contain the string, just a  
4 and a February.

This is on Tiger...

Perhaps with the quotes you get 4 AND February, without the quotes 4  
OR February. But I must have tens of thousands of messages containing  
a 4...

Either way I'm tempted by Mail Steward suggested by Tony, so as to  
archive away stuff that only my biographers and prosecutors will need.
