Well, I have no idea of course, but it seemed to me the extra $.30  
was a premium for higher quality and no DRM, and not a way for them  
to cover bandwidth costs.

And since Amazon is getting DRM-free music from labels that won't let  
Apple sell DRM-free, it seemed logical to think the music industry is  
trying to prop up a competitor to Apple.

But really, it's all just speculation :)
