Ok, so if they are mostly making "quick videos" but need the effects  
I would suggest  using iMovie 06 until these features come to iMovie  
08 (maybe even with Leopard).  But if they want full-featured  
editing, multiple tracks, primary target DVDs then (again) use iMovie  
06 until its no-longer supported (or lacks features) and then upgrade  
to FC Express.

I think the distinction (which I was trying to make earlier) is that  
one app (iMovie 08) seems to be for quickly putting together "short"  
videos that go on YouTube or similar (usually without much post- 
production) and the other (iMovie 06) is for for when you want to  
really spend a lot of time getting it right and doing much more in  
post production.

Just my opinion, of course.
