Everything is in front of you now - one window gives you access to
pretty much everything you need. In fact, I haven't cracked the
manual yet -
I teach with GarageBand every day (instead of Logic) , because GB is
so quick and easy to set up and get going.
But Logic Studio is about as easy as GarageBand in terms of finding
stuff. You click a tab or button and you get started right away.
Lots of pre-made templates for jumping right in. Needless to say,
I'll be using Logic Studio for teaching.
And Main Stage ? wow ! This is going to be killer for live
performance! It's also nice to pull up if you want to do some piano,
synth, samples or guitar etc work and play along with iTunes --
instead of loading Logic Pro.
I've been using Notator from C-LAB before it became Logic/Emagic
since 1987. I've also owned Pro Tools and DIgital Performer ( both
are great apps as well). But, I moved back to Logic Pro with V.6
Over the years, I've always thought Logic, while incredibly powerful
and "genius", if you will, was rather inaccessible and unintuitive.
That's all changed with Logic Studio. It's now easy, elegant,
thoughtful ... intuitive, yet even more powerful than ever.
I think the update is a no brainer for existing users. And, I am
encouraging my music students to pop for Logic Studio as first time
buyers.
While Logic Studio is much easier than its predecessors, it wouldn't
be a bad idea to grab the forthcoming Apple Training manuals for apps
in the suite, or even check out some of the forthcoming tutorials on
MacProVideo.com. These apps are deep .. and while Logic is easier
than ever, there's a lot to learn if you want to take advantage of
the extensive tools and resources.
BTW: I'm not affiliated with Apple nor with MacProVideo.com
I'm just really excited about Logic Studio -
"The wait is over!"
