preparing for Time Machine

How are you doing any backups now?
Time machine doesn't change anything , it will only do a full backup  
when you first start
using it and then incremental. IAW back up everything between then  
and now.
And don't forget you don't HAVE to use Time machine, if you have a  
good system now , leave it.
