No you can't. You can only subscribe or unsubscribe to GLOBAL
mailboxes on the server. Believe me, the first thing I tried to do was
unsubscribe from the January-June mailboxes, but that's not possible.

If you have an IMAP account that provides access to public or shared
email folders, you can subscribe to those folders so that they appear
in the Mail sidebar.
To subscribe to folders:

Display the Account Info dialog for the IMAP account that provides
shared and public folders.

subscribe to and click Subscribe.
