Sorry, I forgot to mention in my previous post (that digressed to
talk about the setup I use) that there were rumors, which I am sure
you probably heard, about Apple working on something like "Home on an
iPod."
The reason this is relevant is that there was also mention, IIRC, of
some new mechanism whereby you wouldn't have to setup another account
on the machine, but would have some form of encrypted password on
your home drive (whatever that is), and a suitably setup system would
look for such a password and let you login (of course, if you got the
password correct).
I've not heard anything further about this, and it doesn't seem to be
a part of the publicly discussed functionality in Leopard, but
perhaps we'll here something about it when Apple makes all of
Leopard's features public at WWDC.
