iTunes (MBPro17) sharing FREEZES iTunes

just as a data point, i have those iTunes/QT updates, but 10.4.8, 
and i'm sharing fine with an Airport Extreme (g) and Express from 
each of three computers  -- a MBPc2d15, a G4MDD, and a PB12 -- 
without trouble

this slightly tilts suspicion toward 10.4.9 and/or Airport/n
