iTunes (MBPro17) sharing FREEZES iTunes

I have 4 macs on my network (g4s and g5s, one MBPro) -- sharing
(Bonjour) works like a charm -- or did, until the recent iTunes/QT
updates (or perhaps 10.4.9 update?)

When turn sharing ON on my MBPro17 library (which is small), it
freezes iTunes. The titlebar grays out -- I can't access the window
controls - can't open any iTunes menus. I've restarted the machine
and have been able to reproduce this several times. I can't make
iTunes the active app. When I go to restart the machine, I'm told I
can't restart because iTunes fails to quit. I've trashed the prefs.
No luck.

The PB17, G4/500 and the iMacG5 have no problems showing up under
Bonjour on the MBPro. The MBPro doesn't show up on anything else.
The MBPro is on my n-only network. The other machines are on the g-
network (bridged).

Suggestions on how to solve this ?

K
