Possible bug in 10.4.9 update (Intel Mac Mini 1.66ghz, 2gb ram)

I'm running 10.4.9, on an iMac G5, with an APC UPS attached via its  
USB cable. The little battery charge icon is visible on my menubar. I  
have it configured to show the percentage of power as a number as  
well as the icon. Don't know if this makes a difference.
