As a test trying creating a new user account on your system. Log into
that account and try launching iTunes.

If it works then likely some aspect of the iTunes library and/or
iTunes preferences are in a bad state in your normal account (or you
are tickling a corrupted filesystem location or block that is causing
an IO failure).
