Failing Dock (was Re: Stacks - a part of the Finder or just the Dock?)

But I don't think a tabbed dock will work when Apple's Dock is really  
three docks in one - running applications + files & folders +  
minimised windows.

I believe Apple also wants to give people quick access to running  
applications and minimised windows, having to switch tabs to see and  
select them is not so good.

Checkout my previous posts if you haven't already heard my suggestion  
on how to fix this (including tabs for files, folders etc).

You can see what it looks like with DragThing (with all docks open -  
not something that normally happens) here:

Note how I have the minimised windows dock displaying their full  
names - this is (obviously) an option that not everyone will use but  
I find it helps me select them quicker.

And with all docks hidden (you can still see the tabs of the bottom  
files & folders dock) here:

So you can do this *now* with DragThing but it would be nice if we  
could get the more complete integration (and a touch of style and  
dynamics) that Apple could provide.
