large external drive recommendation

I've always had good experiences with LaCie products.  I know Windows  
users who hate them because it requires a reformat but I was  
surprised when I saw that link.  There are similar reviews on Amazon.

I've yet to own an external WD that didn't die within three weeks yet  
I know a lot of people who swear by them.
