Late replying I know, but I looked around at some other price  
comparisons and this one is definitely an outlier. I think these  
developer prices have simply never been updated to reflect the  
current disastrous dollar. I paid 499 Euro two and half years ago.  
The dollar is worth about 30% less than it was then and the price is  
still 499 Euro. This has nothing to do with tax and everything to do  
with carelessness. At 499 USD (366 Euro), I'd buy a select membership  
at the drop of a hat. At 499 Euro, its still a decent price,  
especially if you can make use of a hardware discount. Its just the  
principle of the thing.
