hmmm, a LaserJet 1015 has served an elderly neighbor well; 
advantages are: ink doesn't run, very long time between toner 
refills (and only one cartridge, rather than a set of them), no 
ink drying out; the machine's about the size of a medium inkjet, 
and very quick & quiet for normal pages; downside: no color, oh 
well ...
