Furthermore, explain how to do all those things using the mouse and
keyboard to any normal computer user, see how it goes. I know my wife
(and many other people who, far from thick, are brilliant
individuals) have problems understanding things like selection,
dragging, etc. at first, not to mention the whole Exposé thing (which
I consider rather intuitive).
I think what Han (and Apple) are doing is changing the rules of the
game and getting us closer to the information than ever before. And
in the process, we are getting to the basics of human communication,
"naturalizing" the interface, making the interaction with information
something natural for the first time. That's the real promise of this
kind of research (and now products! :-)
That, coupled with morphing interfaces, will get us to the next level
(and back to the caves).
