Yes, I know it. But that's exactly the contrary: something to make
your finger work like a stylus. It won't work on the iPhone for the
same reason a normal stylus won't work. I was wondering if there's a
stylus that has the electrostatic charge the finger has (and even
then, I wonder if the multitouch will work with it).
Funny you mention the DS. It is a great example on how a stylus works
great in certain situations and how the finger works great in others.
The DS accepts both. Their stylus is too small for writing, as is the
screen, but for the use it gets, it fits perfectly. Nintendo sold 13
million last year, btw, and you couldn't find one this xmas in Spain.
All sold-out (like the Wii, still sold out everywhere through the
world no matter how fast they can make them — and another example of
new interface that works incredibly well).
I think His Steveness, like he did with the lamp iMac, is disguising
a weak point of the technology as a strength. The iPhone, like the
DS, should allow the user to use whatever he likes. However, my
feeling is that, like we did with the new iMac, we will get a stylus
later in the game, once they get the technology to accept it.
I would be happy to have an optional ball-bearing pen with no ink,
with some kind of system that will give me the same kind of feedback
as a real pen with ink. I will be using my fingers some times and the
stylus others.
