i decided to leave it on the AE/n USB as a shared drive for another  
day.  So far , so good.
But again, you have to search via CLI, can't use Finder's built-in  
spotlight (you can use Finder's built-in spotlight for drives mounted  
directly or over filesharing off another computer, of course).

I would hope someone else on this list who has hung a drive off their  
new AE/n would confirm the search problem. Also, confirm reliability  
in terms of staying on the network.

data rate and signal strength look much better on the AE/n network  
(if i'm interpreting the numbers correctly):
