HP Sets Product Launch Extravaganza In NYC For September 5

Hewlett-Packard’s (HPQ) Personal Systems Group is planning a product  
launch extravaganza in New York on the evening of September 5. A  
spokesperson said the event will be PSG’s “biggest launch ever,” and  
feature new desktop PCs, notebooks, handhelds and “digital  
entertainment stuff.” She also said there will “new gaming products,”  
but declined to provide any details on what they might be. Engadget  
yesterday had some pictures of a new model from HP’s Voodoo gaming PC  
division called the Virtus.

The event, to be held at Skylight Studios on Hudson Street is  
expected to attract close to 1,000 people.

Fascinating that this is taking place on the same day that Apple  
(AAPL) is announcing its latest collection of iPods in San Francisco.  
It’s a coincidence…right?
