It does, for all cameras but HDV (AFAIK). It has never worked for HDV  
cameras, as the support for them is brand new, so it's not like they  
took away something that used to work.

Yes, and there is a bug in the current version that will most likely  
be fixed in the next version. It's not like they took away your  
ability to run QT 7.1, so you're not exactly stranded here.

You're not getting any resistance from me. I've only stated why I  
think that this support isn't currently there. Filing enhancement  
requests (as you've done) is the right thing to do here.

Oh, and btw.: Just because other apps have this functionality doesn't  
mean that iMovie 08 would get it for free. Sure, it would be easier  
compared to having to invent things from scratch, but it would still  
take engineering and Q&A resources to [1] implement and [2] maintain.

No, don't give up so soon! Here I was hoping that Apple would have  
time to ship QT 7.3 while we were still bickering over this...
