audio effects in new iMovie '08 - what's to become of Logic Pro ? what about a truly integrated media authoring environment?

One last comment on this issue:

Here's how I *CAN* record audio from my MOTU directly into iMovie:

If I set my video source to the *** built-in iSight camera on my
MBPro *** I can set the audio input to my MOTU firewire device and
capture directly to disk in iMovie using my MOTU audio. Of course, I
don't want to use my internal iSight camera ! but ..

:-)
