I think it should be.

manual sync ? not for me.

Since I couldn't get feedback from Apple on this, I thought I'd ask
the talk list if there were any users out there figuring out a solution.

I've Radar'd this as well.

Quicktime Pro 7.1 allowed me to record with separate audio and video
sources with my DV camera. It didn't recognize the Canon HDV.

Quicktime Pro 7.2 came out, the Canon HV20 was recognized, but 7.2
broke support for various external audio interfaces, including my
MOTU 896HD.

If 7.3 comes out and fixes this issue, I'll return to that workflow:
record in QTPro and then drop the file into iMovie.

My question is, if QTPro 7.1 could do it, why not add that simple
feature to iMovie ?

Is it really a "pro-level" feature? hell, iChat allows me to bring
in video from my DV camcorder over firewire and audio from my MOTU
firewire interface.

If iChat can do it, I'd think iMovie could.
