I don't believe the multi-touch would have that sort of resolution.   
That said, perhaps each finger would have a unique multi-touch  
"signature", although I doubt it.

I thought they were talking about some central record of ownership  
(like SIM cards) or a three-times and your out PIN that needs to be  
reset by vendor (or something like that) on initial boot.

Personally, I can't see why Apple would be interested - a stolen iPod  
is probably another guaranteed sale.
