It's the upscaler, not HDMI. HDMI and DVI are the same digital  
transports, the former matching the speed of a double link DVI (in  
fact, you only need a cable - which I use - to convert from one to  
the other).

However, I wish I can disconnect the upscaling on the AppleTV,  
though. The Marantz's dedicated Faroudja chipset does a better job.
