with the Brakhage films, it has little to do with the resolution; 
Brakhage wasn't as much a fine photographer (which is where we 
could split hairs on 1080p) as he was a manipulator of film

for most other fine cinema, 1080p is perhaps a compromise, but a 
huge improvement over NTSC, and i'm willing to at least reserve 
judgment until prices come down and intellectual property issues 
shake out
