I don't want to speak for you or the majority, but I would suggest,
perhaps, that you (and the majority) haven't experienced real HD
content in the right setting (screen size, distance from screen etc.)
When I have seen true HD content, in the right setting, it has been
an order-of-magnitude better experience that standard definition
digital TV or traditional analogue TV.
The best way others have described it, and I agree, is that its like
"looking through a window" (at the world outside). For me it
represents an exciting future for video.
The problem with most HD digital TV (in Australia, at least) is that
it is just upscaled (or whatever you call it) standard definition TV,
or low-bit rate HD TV.
There's only a small amount of true HD content being broadcast
(again, in Australia). That, and the fact that there aren't HD TiVos
for Australia, is why I still watch standard definition digital TV.
