Those of us who lived through the BeOS glory days still fondly  
remember 15-second cold boot times (to full  OS readiness) on mid- 
grade x86 hardware seven years ago. So the answer to  your question  
is "a lot."

But I also wouldn't  be surprised if BeOS boot  times would have   
slowed down as the OS evolved over  time.
