I still use Apple Works Equation Editor or Microsoft Office Formula
Editor (came with the value pack in v.X)
I have the german version of these apps, so it's not of much help to
post the exact location here - both are hidden deep in nested
folders. The downside is, they're really only editors: They won't
calculate anything. But they're simple.

Most of the teachers I know use Windows software on their macs under
VirtualPC. I haven't seen anyone yet using Parallels or similar on
the newer macs.
