why .Mac ?

A friend was asking me why I use .Mac since he gets Gmail and Hotmail  
for free.
I replied with various reasons, but I wanted to send him to mac.com  
where he could view the litany of reasons.
But mac.com doesn't really spell it out.

Is there a link (marketing) selling someone on why .Mac is a great  
value for 99 bucks a year?
