... at roughly half-second intervals, starting a few seconds after  
pressing the on button of a PowerBook.

The 80 GB drive has been chilled, but still cannot be mounted. A  
company in Paris has quoted me 180 euros for taking a took, and about  
300 for extracting the data. Another (In virtuel at Roanne, which has  
its own facilities) will look for nothing and charge 1000-1300 for  
recovering whatever can be recovered.

Any advice on cost and procedure? I'm in Geneva or Paris most of the  
time and would prefer to deal with an organisation that I can get at,  
if need be.
