I love Mail. Yes, it's not perfect, but, what is?
I used Emailer, Cyberdog, Compuserve and AOL mails —when they had it
inside an app—, then all those thingies that Navigator brought...
gee, so many apps. Then came Outlook someday and it was good, good
indeed. Until Eudora won me... Mac OS 8 and 9 years. For years,
frustrated by the horrible stagnation of Eudora —but chained to it by
the huge amount of mail I already had by that time— , I tried many,
many different little apps that would pop in and then puff out the
Mac scenario. None were good... puaj.
And then Mail came... oh, man, how sweet it has been since then my
life as an emailer being. A not complicated, always responsive, well
integrated, nicely interfaced app that manages IMAP beautifully —
yeap, my standards are low, mind you— and it's updated fairly often.
I love Mail... oh, I already said that, sorry.
Nevertheless, I keep trying software. The ones coming from Mozilla
Foundation, the one from the folks of Huesos Desnudos, the one from
Mariner Software, and then Mulberry, Musashi, PowerMail —that one was
good at one time, I think still is—, and the interesting Nisus Email,
which its lack of IMAP makes it less competitive nowadays.
Why I keep trying? Because Apple just set the bar nicely for others
to come and do a great, great, great mail app. I know it's coming. In
the meantime, I absolutely enjoy Mail.app.
