Eudora Going OSS

It would seem that the Eudora group is being paid to port the Eudora
design to the Thunderbird and Mozilla code base, so I expect this
work to move along quickly.
What I suspect is going on is that much of the common, non-UI code
will migrate over virtually unmodified, and that they will adopt to
the Mozilla way of things for the UI code. The Thunderbird code base
is competent at some things, but not very well developed in most. We
know that the Eudora developers know how to code.
This will make a real, accessible email client available such that we
can add stuff to it, cross platform or not. I'd still like to see
some way to get people off using Microsoft email clients, for
example. And if text editing remains clunky, we can fix it.
I expect someone to Cocoa-ize a version of Penelope as soon as any
kind of reasonable implementation becomes available in source.
