No, it became usable -barely- on a dual G5. When compared to other
solutions, it just sucks. Usable on low-end systems with how many
images? How many megapixels per image? 2?

Sure, my image data has like, bad bits or something. How many images
do "the" has?

As much as I like Aperture, it still has a long way to go and it
could have been way more optimized. The performance with large
datasets reminds me to the first four versions of iPhoto.
