And don't forget that maildir makes backup of the mailserver _much_  
more efficient!

As a side note, and I assume that most of you know, remember that  
Apple Mail switched from a mbox-like message store to a maildir like  
message store to be able to integrate with Spotlight.

Maildir is all good!
