That feature would indeed be a lifesaver. We switched all our users
from POP to IMAP, but the IMAP server (OSXS) went 'belly up' after a
few months and lost all the messages (meaning everyone lost all of
their messages). Now we have everyone set up, still with IMAP, but
they have one or more Mail.app rules that copy their messages to
local mailboxes, thus archiving them to each user's machine. Maybe
there's a better way, but in this way, even if the server goes out
again, at least users have local access to their old messages, and
not want to slit my throat.
