That's where you're wrong. huge mail stores is where IMAP shines.
And if you do what you said, with deleting mail of the server after a
couple of weeks, what happens when you read mail at work?
Oh, right, it's all marked as unread at home.
Where is that message you sent last February? On your home machine,
or on your work machine -- and oh crap, you got a new computer at
work in June, is that sent message on the new machine?
