Mac as a Gaming Platform?

Doesn't add up?  I mentioned we already had a Mac for the children  
and wanted to get more use out of it.  A games console and the  
expensive games are clearly an additional cost.

And I say again, it doesn't have to be that way. Mac/PC define a  
controller standard (not necessarily a standard controller, but at  
the very least a naming convention for standard controls/buttons etc.)

Whilst that is an interesting solution (taking a somewhat different  
approach) it still requires configuration of the controller for each  
game ... it should all just work.
