Dead iMac

My iLamp (G4 USB 2.0 15"), after several weeks of acting somewhat
oddly (frequent kernel panics) gave up the ghost mere hours after I
sold off my single core intel mini and a couple of days before the
arrival of my Mac Pro.

Basically, after its last crash, it will not power on. Pressing the
power button does nothing.

My first question is, anything I can do with hammer, a couple of
screw drivers, and a large supply of Silly Putty® that might help?

Second, how do I get the hard drive out so I can hook it up to my Mac
Pro and get my wife's files off?

And thirdly, while I have the machine apart enough to get to the
drive, any chance that Silly Putty will come in handy with a repair?

And, while it was regarded as pretty good evidence of criminality to
be living in a slum, for some reason owning a whole street of them
merely got you invited to the very best social occasions.
