Extracting and Converting snd resources

Unfortunately its not possible for me to convert the sounds myself and
distribute them with my app, and I also can't distribute a converter
(unless it is free) with my app. The app is a patcher/porter that will
use the users copy of an old classic game and port it to OS X, so I
can't charge for it or distribute any original game media.
So I'm looking for a code solution or perhaps a small open source or
free 3rd party tool that I can use to do the conversion - preferably
guiless.
