ZFS exports the file systems as NFS, not the NFS server (which would  
indeed be used were the filesystem something else).

I expect they borrowed some code from the Solaris  
implementation...it's possible that Apple's ZFS team have put some  
effort into getting the developer tools to work in the presence of  
ZFS, too :-)
