Automatic shutdown not working

Hi Ruedi

does the iMac have tons of 3rd party s/ware on it?  or is it a  
[recently] fresh install?  How are you testing the shutdown behaviour,  
presumably by setting the shutdown time to a few minutes in the future  
and just waiting - correct?

Have you checked the /var/log/system.log for anything unusual?
