Registration code tips?

A long long time ago, I'd written up an article with a bunch of stuff
I stumbled across, either by research or being an idiot. No
registration schemes are provided (at least, none that you should
use), but hopefully there are some useful suggestions.

But honestly? Unless you really really want to do it yourself and will
have fun and enjoyment from the attempt, you may be better off just
finding and using a suitable library to link in. I'm sure there has to
be something out there. Just because the more time and effort you
spend working on your registration scheme is less time and effort your
spending making your app royally rock. Allocate your time as
appropriate.
