Archive directory (multiple directory hard links) API

Nevermind, I found this exchange between Rosyna and JKH about 30  
seconds after I posted to the list:

which implies that directory hard links are for the exclusive use of  
Time Machine.  Ah well, better to be safe than sorry :).
