It doesn't matter, it happens either when the shortcut is defined and
when it isn't.

I'm not sure what you mean here; you mean the list in the
International preferences?
This actually may explain it. In fact I just noticed that it happens
only if I use the US Extended mapping, which somehow is included in
the menu, and not with e.g. the US mapping. So is there a problem
with that mapping? Can it be that textfield input can switch the
input mapping somehow? I never understood what triggers changes of
the mapping, I would have expected it to change
